DESCRIPTION

3.3 Ounces

93 Grams

3” x 2” x 1”

Selenite is a transparent variety of the mineral gypsum that forms in crystals or crystalline masses. It's named after the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene, and gets its name from the Greek word selēnítēs líthos which literally means "moon stone". Selenite is often pearlescent white in color, but can also be gray, yellow, brown, reddish-brown, or green. It has a hardness of two on the Mohs scale, meaning it can be scratched with a fingernail.

Selenite is created when calcium-rich salt water evaporates. The Greeks valued selenite for its beauty and even used it to make windows. The 5th century arched windows of the Santa Sabina church in Rome are made of selenite sheets instead of glass.

In many traditions, selenite is believed to have healing properties and is considered an important tool for energy workers. Some believe it can improve well-being, provide protection, and cleanse unwanted energies from surroundings. For example, some people place bracelets on top of selenite for an hour or two to cleanse and recharge them. Others believe selenite can help with mental clarity and keep away negativity. However, there is no scientific evidence to support these claims.
